Nevertheless, entering this new phase of life is associated with uncertainty for both children and parents. Transitions are made easier by familiar things.
Supporting the development and promotion of school readiness is a joint task of kindergarten and elementary school. To ensure that children make a good transition from nursery to school, we help them look forward to this next stage in their lives. We talk about school, learn safe behavior in traffic, promote the child's entire personality and visit an elementary school. In doing so, we promote important skills such as self-confidence and self-efficacy experiences.
Visits to a lesson at school take place in consultation with the respective teachers. There, our children get to know the building and have the opportunity to talk and exchange ideas with schoolchildren. The reading sessions with school children in our daycare center mean that there is rarely any fear of contact.
In the run-up to the class formation in the cooperation schools, the teachers contact our daycare center and talk to the teachers about the children's preferences, friendships and special features. The teachers take this discussion into account when setting up the new first classes. Information about planned events at the elementary school is passed on to our parents via posters, notices and discussions.
In the last year of daycare, the children go on various excursions on specific topics, which are developed through discussion groups - for example, getting to know different professions, visiting sights and events in the city. This allows them to explore their district or city even more intensively and learn how to behave in traffic depending on the situation. Together with the children, ideas are collected on how to organize the farewell. A farewell party with children and parents is the highlight of the last kindergarten year and marks the end of the kindergarten years. An information evening is held for parents in conjunction with the school as part of the school preparation year. This also serves to get to know each other so that all the resources of children, parents and teachers can be used to organize the preparatory year.
